Self-Defense for Women

Realistic Self-Defense for Women

While all people need to be able to defend themselves, women especially need to be aware of how to protect themselves against a potential attacker who is larger, heavier, and stronger than they are.

Women in general are more likely to become the victim of a violent attack, this program offers the ability to both avoid potentially dangerous situations and defend yourself in case you find yourself in one. Self-defense training has saved lives, and it is increasingly important to invest in realistic safety and self-defense training.

Self-defense training has saved lives, and it is increasingly important to invest in realistic safety and self-defense training.

Women are often considered easy targets, especially when it comes to a male attacker. When looking at different statistics, it can be noted that:
  • Two thirds of violent victimizations committed against women were by someone they knew. (National Criminal Justice Reference Source)
  • 1 out of 3 women worldwide have been a victim of physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. (World Health Organization)
  • In 2008, 49% of violence committed by a spouse/significant other against women was reported to police. (US Bureau of Justice Statistics)
It is also important to note that some characteristics that are looked for by attackers can include:
  • Having timid body language.
  • Being distracted while walking, either by the surroundings or cellphone.
  • Placing yourself in high-risk locations at high-risk times.

While the statistics can be alarming, there are solutions available. It's important to understand that risky behaviors can be replaced with safer habits to prevent dangerous situations.  The COBRA self-defense program for women focuses on potential scenarios and provides practical, scenario-based training to help women protect themselves or escape from dangerous situations.
